Update from my most recent lunchtime meal. Absolutely delicious. The food you will have at Idriss is so unique, so fresh, and just the perfect combination of flavours!!! I highly recommend the Royal Couscous and the Algerian tea for a treat!! Service is incredible and the waitress is so nice to have a conversation with.
What I admired about this place is the total experience. The food and the friendly service is one of a kind. The restaurant is clean and I just felt like I'm eating authentic food in Algeria. In their menu they have options for everyone and their prices are very reasonable. Their mint tea after your meal is a must. I believe they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Excellent food and service. The meatball tajine hit the spot with its flavourful, smooth tomato gravy studded with meatballs and poached eggs, served with fresh crusty bread. The lamb couscous was great too, with a fragrant sauce and fluffy, steamed couscous. Bourek with veggies was also flavourful. The lady running the place was very polite and friendly. Overall, a great place for a wonderful Algerian meal in Ottawa.

To top it all off, the baklava was divine, its layers of pastry and nuts drenched in just the right amount of syrup. Washing it all down with Hamoud Algerian soda added a refreshing and unique twist to the meal. Had a nice little date here. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Staff were friendly and helpful. All meals were delicious, the royal couscous was exceptional! Delicious baklava as well!
We just went there for the first time today for lunch, and omg ! , super delicious, fresh and tender meats…, A delight ! and very pleasant service all together… Will come back again for sure…! Thank you
The restaurant has a cozy and well decorated seating area. Our server was the owner and she was very attentive. The food was the best part. Fresh, tasty and a variety of flavours. My wife and two small children loved it and we all agreed it was our favourite restaurant so far. My children are as oucky as anyone else’s so thats saying a lot.
